Dress Code

A dancer learns best in an atmosphere that is free from other diversions.  A standard dress code is an important part of enabling dancers to maintain their focus on their work, without distraction or competition. We require students to abide by our dress code.  Students who fail to do so will be reminded of its requirements.  If a student continues to violate the dress code, the student may be asked to leave class and return in proper attire.

Girls Pre-Ballet, Primary 1 and Primary 2:  Pink leotard, socks or pink tights, pink ballet shoes.  Hair secured neatly away from face, preferably in a bun.

Personal conduct: Classical ballet demands concentration, discipline, and attention to detail. It is a demanding art with many side benefits for the serious and not-so-serious student alike.  Dancers at the Academy are expected to work to the best of their individual ability.  Students must arrive on time and prepared for class. Students must show respect to instructors and other students.

Health issues: Strong dancers need healthy bones and muscles.  Dancers should eat a healthy and well-balanced diet and are discouraged from dieting.  Poor nutrition leads to stress fractures and other injuries.

Tuition is non-refundable.  We’re sorry if this causes any inconvenience.  However, our staffing is determined by student demand.  Additionally, if a class is full, we may turn away other students.  A refund for private lessons will be given with 24-hour notice of cancellation.  For your convenience, we accept Visa and MasterCard in addition to checks.  Please, no cash.  Tuition is due on the first day of the month on which ARCB is open.  Tuition paid after the 7th of the month is subject to a late fee and time-price differential.  Full details about late fees are set forth on enrollment forms.

Performances:  The Academy may prohibit a dancer from participating, and may remove a dancer from a performance, with or without notice, if tuition, costume costs, fees, or other expenses are delinquent.

Dismissal:  Students learn best in an atmosphere of support, concentration, and focus.  Students who are disruptive in class may be asked to leave class or, if a problem persists, to leave the Academy permanently.  Students who are disrespectful of instructors, other students, or the Academy property may be asked to leave the Academy. Students may also be dismissed if parents or other family members disrupt the Academy.

Nondiscrimination:  The Academy of Russian Classical Ballet is proud to welcome male and female students of all ages, races, religions, and ethnic backgrounds.  However, we reserve the right to assign dancers to roles that are age, gender, and ability appropriate.
